The Kiss or Kill Beauty Mark

Welcome!
After the busy holiday whirlwind we are thrilled to premier our first blog post of the year!
The main inspiration for this shoot was drawn from: our favorite Christmas gift, the new beauty bible, The New York Times best seller ... "Your Beauty Mark" by the Queen of Burlesque and Beauty Dita Von Teese!
We have always fantasized about creating a vintage powder room editorial so upon reading Your Beauty Mark (and going to a seminar hosted by Dita herself where we got our copies personally signed) you can imagine how eager and influenced we were to get to work on creating our vision of the perfect powder room wonderland that any vintage loving glamour girl would love to get ready to take on the world in!

To create the boudoir look Samantha dressed herself and fellow  Glambassador Veronica in honestly what they usually get ready in day to day just with a bit more pizzazz! This entails sweet lace night gowns and soft and elegant long satin robes! (We love brands like Marilyn Monroe and Sophie B.)
Veronica's robe is a beautiful vintage piece from the 1970's,  Samantha's is a black lacy find from Fredrick's of Hollywood. Underneath Veronica sports a lovely pink jersey and black Rochelle lace trimmed romper from Victoria's Secret and gorgeous glittering t straps! Samantha wears a powder pink and black chemise by Sophie B., a chiffon wrap skirt, and fluffy heeled slippers by Teaser! Both gals are adorned in seamed stockings and vintage inspired jewelry.

Veronica wanted the overall look of this shoot to feel very glamorous, fun, and feminine. In order to have that "pretty" element truly shine in this shoot she drew from a color palette of rosey and dusty shades of pink for the makeup and hair accessories . The eyes were a multitude of pink hues from the Stila "Whole lotta love" palette, Urban Decay's "Wallpaper Shadow Box" palette, and even a few neutrals from Kat Von D's "Shade and Light" palette. A beautiful rose-mauve Glitter was pressed on top of the center of the lid to add an extra level of drama and glitz. The eyes were finished with winged liner using MAC's "Blacktrack Fluidline". The lips were an ombre of pale pink lipstick in the center and a berry shade on the outer edge. "Kitschmas" pigment by MAC was used as a highlighter for a glamorous glow atop the cheekbones that were blushed with the pink and mauve blushes from the Stila palette mentioned earlier.  The hair scarves were created with a gorgeous organza, delicate lace, and pearl string. The hair was curled, brushed out, and pulled back into a pony tail with a few tendrils of remaining hair left out to frame the face.

We are so happy with the outcome of this concept and aim to make every day as glamorous as this shoot felt! We encourage any of you out there with a love for eccentric glamour and self creation to pick up a copy of the wonderful book that inspired us to create this editorial of us basking in our own beauty marks! "Your Beauty Mark" by Dita Von Teese. We wish you all a very exciting, successful, and glamorous 2016 filled with so much love and happiness!
Until next time!

XOXO,

Samantha&Veronica
