All American Art Deco

Happy Fourth of July!!

Welcome to our annual tradition! Every year of blogging thus far we have done a 4th of July shoot and this year we went with an All-American glamorous twist! We love stepping into the past of retro/vintage American styles and fashions to get inspired for these shoots. These Fourth of July photo shoots are always so much fun for us to put together and this year was by far the most exciting! We hope you all enjoy!

Veronica steered away from the red, white, and blue makeup this year as she wanted to keep this makeup very classic. With that being said, she didn't want to just repeat another classic glamour look she had already done for a past shoot. To change things up Veronica added a few twists in the eye makeup drawing inspiration from multiple eras. She went full glamour (of course) but slightly altered the shape of the traditional eye makeup you would have seen in the 1940's-50's. Almost adding a slightly more intense look to the eye that would be reminiscent of makeup from the 1920's-30's lets just say; this look drew a little inspiration from ALL of her favorite eras!  To add brightness she went EXTRA shimmering with the center of the eye lid this time around using a beautiful sparkling champagne colored powder to intensify, dramatize, and add that festive glimmering twist that is so very necessary for any Fourth of July look! This same sparkling powder was dusted on top of the highlight on the cheekbones to intensify the radiant glow of the skin (again, SO much shimmer is required for the Fourth... it is not a joke! ;D ) Classic red lips are a staple to finish off any patriotic makeup look. Veronica styled the hair with vintage glamour waves and adorned the style with "Statue of Liberty" inspired headbands she made that are pictured in some shots.

The annual 4th of July blog shoot is something that The Kiss or Kill looks forward to year round! So after last years pure campy pinup inspired photo shoot, Samantha couldn't wait to style this roaring modern vintage editorial.  Naturally for the foundation of this look she picked out the longest, slinkiest, and most luxurious dresses she could find in the Kiss or Kill wardrobe! Veronica in a vintage royal blue plush velvet gown and herself in a sparkling red sequined dress! Trying to refrain from past years matchy matchy outfit choices, she matched the shoes to the dresses and accented both outfits with white satin opera length gloves! To complete this classy patriotic look both girls are wearing long strands of pearls from each of their Grandmothers!

We loved creating this festive retro revival editorial, and already can't wait to plan next years!
We hope you all are having glorious and glamorous 4th of July!
Until next time!

XOXO,

Samantha & Veronica
